How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
My husband and I were interested in creating a beautiful, relaxing environment for ourselves and others to enjoy. We met in art school in NYC and consulted for the top Fortune 500 companies in Westchester and Conneticut. As a hobby, we restored old houses and learned a lot about building and architecture. We designed the cottages and the Main Inn and built it with the help of a few framers starting in 1995.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
The beautiful setting in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and excellent decor provide guests with a serene and luxurious environment. We provide breakfast in the cottage refrigerators and created a "kitchen in a closet" in each room, which is a closet that houses a dorm sized fridge, microwave and coffee maker. We provide frozen egg casseroles or quiche, jumbo muffins and fresh fruit parfaits prior to the guest arrival, allowing guests to rise and shine when they choose and have their breakfast when they prefer the next morning instead of having them come to a Dining Room.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
One location on 190 acres. No plans to expand at present.
